In June 2006, lawyer Nguyen Ngoc Khuong — then just thirty-one years old — opened his first office in a small room on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, Hanoi. The entire first week, he had no clients. On day eight, an automotive parts manufacturer called to ask about an import contract. That was Business Law Firm's first client — and they still sign retainer agreements with BLF today.

Nineteen years later, BLF has participated in more than 230 foreign direct investment projects, over 400 M&A and corporate restructuring transactions, and has appeared before domestic and international courts and arbitral tribunals for clients from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, UAE, Europe and North America.

But the philosophy of practice has not changed. Before every case, we still spend the first session listening — to understand the problem correctly, the expectations accurately, the client's budget constraints honestly. This is what Lawyer Khuong calls "Listening & Sharing" — and it is the starting point of every commitment that follows.

We are not the largest law firm in Vietnam. We do not try to be. What we try to be is the first lawyer clients think of when they have an important problem — and the last lawyer they will ever need.
